What is the difference between Linux and Windows hosting?

Linux and Windows are two different types of operating systems. Linux is the most commonly used operating system for web servers today since it’s a free and open-source platform. Windows hosting, on the other hand, uses Windows as the servers’ operating system and offers Windows-specific technologies such as ASP, .NET, Microsoft Access, and Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL), so if your website requires these technologies, you must use Windows hosting.

If my PC runs Windows, do I have to use Windows Hosting?

No. The two are completely irrelevant. The type of hosting you choose has nothing to do with the operating system your PC runs.
